Raw sugar, also known as Chini, is a minimally processed sweetener that retains some of its natural molasses content. It’s made by cane juice and then spinning it in a centrifuge to remove excess moisture. Unlike refined white sugar, raw sugar undergoes less processing and is coarser in texture.
Raw sugar is a healthier alternative to refined sugar as it contains more minerals, such as iron, calcium, and potassium. It also has a lower glycemic index. This means it releases sugar more slowly into the bloodstream and helps prevent blood sugar spikes.
